Basketball Weekends

Several couples have gone to Lexington, Kentucky at least one weekend a year to visit, shop, eat, and enjoy a University of Kentucky basketball game.  These visits have taken place for just about as long as Rupp Arena has been in existence.  It has taken the introduction of digital camers to allow us to have as many pictures as we have now so our pictorial history only goes back to 2004.

We did have several pictures from the 2005 weekend.  ESPN had a Gameday show at Rupp arena and several pictures show the crowd and fun that was had by all.

March 2006 brought the group back to Lexington.  Part of the fun is the game that has to be played just to get tickets.  We sometimes get tickets in advance but frequently we must do the Kentucky pasttime of getting tickets from nice people that are will to sell tickets to rabid fans.  Sometimes the tickets sell for more than face value.

In 2007 our basketball weekend occurred in February. Our favorite trip is the last home game of the year so we can attend the festivities of Senior Day. Every other year that occurs during mid week so we must attend a game earlier in the year. This was one of those years. The fun and frivolity is not diminished but some of the nostalgia is missing.

2008 basketball weekend was back on the Senior Day game which is fun. The ticket price continues to rise to crazy proportions but then again it is UK basketball. We had outstanding food, fun, fellowship, and just an overall good time. UK won the game from Florida so that is always a special treat.
